CRUDE OIL MARKETS REPORTER

Stories range from product briefs to 40-inch profiles of local people and how they live. The job includes pulling products from local retailers to represent a variety of styles and sources. We are looking for someone with a strong knowledge of design, but with the versatility to cover everything from recycling to home technology. ARTS UNIT DIRECTOR
North Texas Public Broadcasting Inc. (KERA), the Dallas/Fort Worth PBS and NPR affiliate, has an opening for an Arts Unit Director. The Arts Unit Director is a grant-funded position responsible for the development and implementation of KERA's multimedia arts content initiative focused on increasing public awareness and appreciation of the arts in coordination with area arts organizations. This position will provide editorial guidance to KERA's arts unit and editorial coordination across departments and platforms. The Arts Unit Director acts as a key liaison between KERA and the North Texas arts community and establishes strategic partnerships. This position will manage the arts unit team, including a multimedia producer with emphasis on radio/Web production, Web developer and production coordinator, as well as plan and administer the arts unit budget. The Arts Unit Director maintains an extensive knowledge of and contacts with North Texas artists and cultural organizations. This position coordinates selection of stories with other KERA content areas, and provides staff with subject expertise and contacts with experts, interviewees and contributors. The Arts Unit Director solicits and reviews content from arts organizations and users for broadcast, online and school/after school distribution. This position also works in cooperation with all departments to develop and execute multiplatform strategies to achieve KERA's strategic content, development and organizational operations goals. The Arts Unit Director oversees regular evaluation of the arts initiative, including formal quarterly assessments that will be shared with funders and supporters, and assessments by an outside evaluator. This position supports promotional and community relations activities as well as fundraising activities.
This successful candidate must show a demonstrated ability to work collaboratively with cross-departmental teams and multiple external partners. A Bachelor of Arts degree or evidence of significant professional accomplishment is required. The applicant should have a minimum of 5 years' management experience in a related field, a demonstrated interest in the arts, and excellent writing, editing, editorial and communication skills. Knowledge of journalism standards, operations and ethics is essential as well as knowledge of radio, television or Web content creation. The duties for a Writer/Producer for health and wellness coverage will do all that expected of a writer and of a producer: Writing breaking news stories as assigned, working with wires.cnn copy, monitoring wire services, CNN air and other sources. Researching and reporting original stories as assigned. In non-breaking news situations, a Writer/Producer will handle all aspects of a mosaic, as assigned by an assignment producer or coordinating producer or other supervisor, including writing text, selecting and cropping photos, requesting or adding video and other elements. Writer/Producers will pitch stories, research and report assignments, and plan mosaics that optimize multimedia and interactivity, adhering to network guidance and standards. The Writer/Producer is expected to follow the assigned story's development throughout the day and amend the story as necessary. When performing producer duties, sections writer/producer must fill in for section producers as needed. In addition, must work closely with the rest of the newsroom including news gathering, I-Report, APs and design. This person is also asked to handle partnership and sponsorship demands as needed. This person must be a team player able to juggle multiple assignments and demands. He or she should develop a good working relationship in other parts of CNN for TV/Web integration opportunities and coordinate coverage plans with WiresCNN. When producing a section, the Writer/Producer will prioritize stories and assignments with assignment and coordinating producers, and with the Senior Producer for sections, as needed. At times, the Writer/Producer may step in to the assignment producer role, working closely with the main page producer to prioritize stories and make assignments to Writers, Associate Producers and Senior Associate Producers.

"The publication will support the current web site, www.dallasasian.com," Arnel says. "The publication will be used to market Dallas as place to travel and play." The CVB plans to distribute the mag through area hotels and probably to area businesses. "The target audience will be Asian Americans and people interested in anything Asiana," Arnel says.
