The chapter's Spring 2008 chapter stipend winner grew up near Houston. After stints in Laredo, the Rio Grande Valley, and Corpus Christi, Aleem found her way back home as a reporter for KHCW 39 News.

This devoted chapter volunteer traded in subways for freeways, when he moved from New York to Fort Worth in 2003. He writes fiction on the side when he's not writing about local politics for the Star-Telegram.
