    OPEN LETTER TO MEMBERS

    Dear AAJA-DC Members,

The Baltimore-Sun has recently offered buyouts to its entire staff, including the newsroom. The AAJA National office has reached out to Editor Tim Franklin to keep diversity a priority as the newspaper adjusts staffing.

To help our colleagues at the Sun and other news organizations facing challenging times, we at AAJA-DC are working to provide workshops, training and networking opportunities. We plan to focus on Web skills, resumes and interview tips. We want to help our members be equipped to move forward. The events should be posted soon. They most likely will begin in August.

If you have additional ideas or suggestions, please e-mail me at obitandc@yahoo.comtancanhly@yahoo.com.

Finally, we are all entrenched with daily deadlines and can overlook sometimes dramatic changes to our members careers. Please reach out to us at any time. (see the Officers page for contact information)

This is a time when AAJA-DC and the national organization can help you. We are at your service.

    Thank you,

    Tan Ly
    AAJA-DC President
