MINORITY FELLOWSHIP AVAILABLE FOR AAJA LEADERSHIP PROGRAM The Newspaper Association of America (NAA) is offering a minority fellowship for AAJA's Executive Leadership Program (ELP). This a great opportunity for a newspaper journalist to have his/her tuition, housing and transportation costs covered at AAJA's ELP Introductory Session February 25 to March 1, 2009, in Washington, D.C. Additionally, 13 other newspaper fellowships are available via NAA between January and May 2009. Fellowship applications must be received by December 1. The deadline for non-newspaper journalists to apply for the Introductory Session is December 30. WASHINGTONIAN MAGAZINE SEEKS EDITORIAL INTERNS Washingtonian Magazine is looking for editorial interns with good research, reporting, and writing skills who don't require a lot of hand-holding. In exchange, we offer an experience that's low on grunt work and high on opportunity. Duties include factchecking, research, and some writing. Graduates of our program have gone on to publications such as Vanity Fair, People, Entertainment Weekly, National Geographic, Allure, Martha Stewart Everyday Food, and USA Today (as well as landed full-time jobs at Washingtonian). The positions are 40 hours a week for four months in the fall, five months in the spring, and three months in the summer. The pay is $7 per hour.
