AAJA Member News: February 2013 Roundup

AlYoung_webAl Young (AAJA-New England) has retired from The Boston Globe as a copy editor on the night news desk.  This comes after a career of more than 35 years of daily newspaper experience as a writer and editor at five publications, including USA TODAY, the New York Daily News and  the New Haven Register, and the Bridgeport  Post-Telegram in Connecticut.  He has been an AAJA member since 1990 and has served as president of the Washington, D.C. Chapter.  Young was also named to AAJA’s inaugural “Asian American Pioneer Journalist Honor Roll” (1925-1975) in 2010.  See his farewell message.

 

RahulBali_webRahul Bali (AAJA-Atlanta) has joined Georgia Public Broadcasting as a Capitol Reporter for The Georgia General Assembly session. He will report for GPB TV’s “Prime Time Lawmakers” and GPB Radio. He has reported and produced for WTOP Radio in Washington D.C., WSB Radio in Atlanta and CNN Radio.  Bali has been a member of AAJA since 1998 and has been active in the Atlanta Chapter as a former vice president and president.  He is currently Co-Coordinator of AAJA’s Asian American Radio Group and is a 2009 graduate of AAJA’s Executive Leadership Program.
