The alliance association of AAJA, NAHJ, NAJA and NLGJA sought input from members on their preferred name for the partner organization.
A ballot was sent to all AAJA members, and here are the results:
- 70.7 percent (217 votes) — UNITY: Journalists for Diversity
- 18.9 percent (58 votes) — UNITY: Journalists of Color & Diversity
- 10.4 percent (32 votes) — UNITY: Journalists of Color
The UNITY board — whose AAJA representatives are Sharon Chan, Janet Cho, George Kiriyama and Doris Truong — will have a final vote on the alliance association name Friday.
