The pre-conference all-day workshops are the best bang for the buck. I’ve enrolled in IRE’s Watchdog Workshop on August 21 and look forward to learning new tools to navigate internet resources and what legal and ethical issues are involved. But truth is, it was hard to decide which Wednesday Workshop to sign up for.
A sample of other sessions I plan to attend:
- Newsroom Analytics: Using Data to Drive Success in the Newsroom
- Vetting Social Media in Breaking News A timely and important topic with a great line-up.
As digital makes a bigger presence in the industry and in my career, I want to know how to position my skills or what I need to do to stay relevant.
With all that the conference has to offer, I’m also looking forward to seeing friends and familiar faces from AAJA and the US journalism field. I left the US for Hong Kong in 2010 and am eager to hear the latest stories of working in the industry.
