Ed Bradley of CBS' "60 Minutes" died of leukemia yesterday.

He broke through color barriers and became one of the most recognizable faces on a network news program. He was a champion of newsroom diversity. Bradley was a role model for young and veteran journalists of all colors. AAJA was honored to have him speak to high school students three months ago.

"AAJA joins the broadcast and journalism community in mourning the passing of Ed Bradley," said AAJA Executive Director Rene Astudillo. "We have always known of his unwavering support for young journalists - especially those from communities of color. As recently as last July, he was an honored speaker at J Camp, AAJA's multicultural high school journalism program where he inspired the students with his passion and commitment to the highest quality of journalism. He will continue to be a model for these young students, and for all of our professional members."
