Democrat and Republican presidential candidates are courting Asian American voters, which is 3.5 million strong. In California, 8 percent of the AAPI vote on Super Tuesday helped tip the win. According to Agence France-Presse (AFP), “Asians have become a critical swing voter bloc in the US presidential election race, with rival parties courting them ahead of another intense White House contest.” We'll add more links to stories on the AAPI vote, so check back. Jan. 10, Reuters "Asian American voters face discrimination: report." The Asian American community is predominantly immigrant and some 670,000 are covered under the provisions of the Voting Rights Act. The majority live in Los Angeles or elsewhere in California. The next largest group lives in New York, followed by Hawaii, Houston and Chicago, according to AALDEF.

The Asian and Pacific Islander American Vote (APIAVote) is a non-partisan organization that promotes AAPI voting and maintains statistics.
