SAN FRANCISCO (July 3, 2008) - The Asian American Journalists Association today announced its awards for excellence in news coverage of Asian American and Pacific Islander and other issues. AAJA will be presenting the awards on Friday, July 25 at its Gala Scholarship and Awards Banquet. Ti-Hua Chang, investigative reporter, WWOR-TV and JuJu Chang, correspondent, ABC News - 20/20 will emcee the banquet. Martin Bashir co-anchor of ABC’s “Nightline” and correspondent on “20/20”, will be the keynote speaker.
National Journalism Awards Winners
The category of Unlimited Subject Matter recognizes professional journalists and AAJA members. The category of Asian American/Pacific Islander Issues recognizes professional journalists covering the AAPI community. These awards demonstrate the ability of journalists - AAPI and otherwise - to cover the news with authority, sensitivity, insight and an eye towards diversity. AAJA honored the following journalists for their work published or broadcast last year:
