AAJA Members Selected for ABC Fellowship and CNN Multimedia Training

Huma Khan, currently a Masters of International Studies student at the University of Kansas and a freelance reporter for the Kansas City Star, will join other students from NABJ and NAHJ in a 12 week summer program to give college students an opportunity to receive hands on instruction in the state-of-the-art ABC NEWS Digital Bullpen. Fellows will work on daily production for ABC News Now, abcnews.com and the World With Charles Gibson Webcase. Khan received her Bachelors degree in Journalism from the University of Houston and worked for an energy trade publication before rejoining the world of academia. Her research focuses on economic development in South Asia. She is also studying Arabic and received a fellowship in summer 2007 to study language and culture in Morocco.

Four AAJA members attended a two-day Digital Media Workshop April 24 and 25 in Atlanta, GA, as part of a CNN partnership with the UNITY alliance partners and other journalism organizations. This hands-on training aims to develop and enhance multimedia skills of broadcast, print and digital media members of the participating organizations. The AAJA participants in the program include: Vino Wong, photographer, Atlanta Journal Constitution; Victoria Lim, freelance journalist and former consumer reporter, WFLA-TV, Tampa; Ko W. Im, freelance news assistant, NY1 and M.S. Candidate for Journalism, Columbia University; and Amy Hsuan, staff writer, The Oregonian.
