Sept. 12, 2008
Erik Ortiz, a business reporter at The Press of Atlantic City, has received the 2008 Knowledge@Wharton Award for Business Journalism. The award provides a scholarship to attend the Wharton Seminars for Business Journalists, which takes place October 12-15, 2008 at Wharton School of the University of Pennsylvania. As a business reporter Ortiz focuses on utilities/energy, banking and labor laws, as well as topics more relevant to the area, including casino unions and tourism. He expects the Wharton seminar to provide him with a more thorough understanding about business terms and transactions which he can apply in his reporting.
