African Americans in Charleston, West Virginia seek hate crime charges against six whites who brutally beat, tortured and sexually assaulted a 20-year-old black woman who they held captive in a trailer for several days. "Hate crimes are out of control in America," said Malik Shabazz, a legal adviser to victim Megan Williams and a founder of Black Lawyers for Justice. "Nooses are being hung and our women are being raped by white mobs."
