Hmong leader Gen. Vang Pao received a warm welcome Wednesday during opening ceremonies for Hmong International New Year at the Fresno, California Fairgrounds. Vang Pao, who was involved in a secret war in Laos during the Vietnam conflict, made headlines last summer after he was charged with plotting to overthrow the Laotian government.
