Chris Iijima, a 1970s Asian American singer songwriter, is featured in a forthcoming film "A Song For Ourselves." Filmmaker Tadashi Nakamura uses animated photos, home movies, archival footage and Iijima's own songs in the 30-minute film. Iijima, who died in 2006, was part of "A Grain of Sand," which released an album in 1973 and included singers Joanne Nobuko Miyamoto and Charlie Chin, both who will appear at the film's opening in Los Angeles Feb. 28, 2009.
