POOR NewsNetwork Radio will feature a special program on Al Robles, a poet and Filipino American activist who recently passed away. Bay Area listeners may tune in to radio station KPFA 94.1 FM on Monday, May 25 at 7:30 a.m. PDT or listen to the broadcast online on KPFA. The show will be hosted by Lisa Gray-Garcia and Tony Robles (nephew of Al Robles) along with a line-up of special guests to pay tribute to Robles.

After a brief illness, Robles passed away May 2 from Guillian-Barre Syndrome. Robles was involved with the International Hotel struggle for the manongs in San Francisco's Manilatown during the 1970s and has been part of many Filipino and Asian American community issues since then, particularly helping the elderly. His poetry reflected what he saw in the community and he educated people through his readings.
