Several daily and weekly San Francisco Bay Area newspapers, including the San Jose Mercury News and Oakland Tribune, are offering employees buyout plans in anticipation of layoffs. In New Mexico, the Pulitzer Prize winning daily Albuquerque Tribune will close after 86 years of publishing. The Tribune is owned by E.W. Scripps Co.
