An al Jazeera cameraman was released after spending six years detained at Guantanamo Bay without being charged. Sami al-Hajj was on assignment in Afghanistan in 2001 when he was captured by U.S. forces as a suspected terrorist. Joel Simon, the executive director of The Committee to Protect Journalists, said the prolonged imprisonment was a "grave injustice" and "represents a threat to all journalists."
