CNN will launch CNN Wire to compete with the Associated Press by offering a lower cost news service that will appeal to budget-strained newspapers. CNN Wire correspondents will largely be one-person run-n-gun operations in various cities, where a reporter/videographer will produce streamed web videos. The one area where A.P. will have the advantage is still photography, which CNN Wire will not offer.
