NAM Poll Shows Rise in Ethnic Media

June 8, 2009

New America Media: Ethnic Media Reaching Record Numbers in U.S.

A New America Media poll reveals that the audience for ethnic media has increased since NAM's first poll in 2005. The poll, released June 5 at NAM's National Ethnic Media Expo & Awards in Atlanta, shows that it's not just immigrants who attributed to the surge, but audiences who embrace specialized content.

Kevin Weston, Director of NAM New Media/Executive Editor, YO! Youth Outlook, talked to AAJA about AsianWeek and other publications. Weston was part of a panel of journalists at a Bay Area Video Coalition presentation "The Hybrid Tomorrow: Journalism, Documentary and New Media!" which took place June 2 in San Francisco.
