Iran continues to crackdown on journalists following the disputed presidential election June 12 which placed Mahmoud Ahmadinejad well above Mir-Hossein Mousavi and spawned protests over alleged irregularities during the vote. Iranian Canadian filmmaker and Newsweek reporter Maziar Bahari was taken into custody without charge.

AAJA video from the June 23 rally in San Francisco focuses on journalism, media, citizen journalism and Twitter. Numerous speakers addressed concerns about information getting out of Iran and how the Iranian government suppresses freedom of speech and news dissemination. San Francisco supervisor Ross Mirkarimi, an Iranian American, also spoke to the crowd. Later that day, the Board of Supervisors passed an Iran resolution and remembered Neda.
