San Jose Mercury News has recently named AAJA Member, Katharine Fong, its new deputy managing editor. Katharine has been with the Mercury News for 10 years, and prior to this appointment, was the assistant managing editor in Features since 2001.
Susan Goldberg, Executive Editor of the Mercury News, made the announcement last week in which she conveyed Katharine's significant contributions to the publication.
"Katharine's hallmarks are her enormous creativity and seemingly boundless energy - terrific assets as we strive to rebuild our Web site into the best and most innovative in the nation," she said.
During her four years as assistant managing editor, Katharine has led efforts to launch new content such as the Teen Page, Style section and, most recently, A+E Interactive.
Katharine is also a graduate of AAJA’s Executive Leadership Program (ELP).
