Lisa Kim, Thuy Vu, Curtiss Kim Receive APTRA awards

AAJA members Curtiss Kim, reporter/anchor, KFTY TV; Lisa Kim, anchor, KNTV-NBC11; and Thuy Vu, reporter, CBS5, have received Associated Press Television and Radio Mark Twain awards in the six state region of California, Nevada, Hawaii, Arizona, New Mexico, Washington and Idaho. Awards were given out at two ceremonies during the APTRA Convention March 15, 2008 at Universal Studios Hollywood. See the full list of APTRA award winners.

May 9, 2008: George Kiriyama, News Reporter for NBC11 News-KNTV, was nominated for an Emmy for his work on the documentary "Dreams To Dust: Americans Interned," about the Japanese American uprooting 65 years ago.

April 25, 2008: Jeannie Park, former editor, Time Inc. Magazines, and Lisa Takeuchi Cullen, staff writer at TIME and ELP Class of 2008 graduate, have been named finalists for the Magazine Publishers of America Magazine inaugural Mentor of the Year Award. Eleven finalists were named, recognizing those who have aided a fellow magazine professional's career and promoted diversity in the magazine industry.

April 25, 2008: Betty Nguyen, anchor of the Weekend Edition of CNN, has been named one of this year's Outstanding Young Texas EX Award recipients. The University of Texas alums will honor her at a dinner in Austin on May 17. She is a graduate of the ELP Class of 2007 in New York City.
