Bina Venkataraman Receives 2008-2009 Diversity Fellowship in Environmental Reporting

Bina Venkataraman, a reporting fellow at The New York Times, has received a 2008-2009 Diversity Fellowship in Environmental Reporting from the Metcalf Institute for Marine and Environmental Reporting. She joins four other journalists on the program, which includes four weeks of independent study in environmental science at the University of Rhode Island and a workshop on environmental justice. Following the independent study, the Diversity Fellows will each work for nine months reporting on science and the environment at one of five outlets, including: CNN; Next American City; The Seattle Times; The American Prospect; and The Boston Globe.
