AAJA Members Win Greater Bay Area Journalism Awards

Paul Sakuma, Bryan Chu, Jocelyn Dong and Oanh Ha win Greater Bay Area Journalism Awards.
Paul Sakuma, Bryan Chu took home a pair of awards and Jocelyn Dong and Oanh received awards at the San Francisco Peninsula Press Club's 32nd annual Great Bay Area Journalism Awards, June 6 at the Crowne Plaza Hotel in Foster City, CA.

Paul Sakuma is a photographer for the Associated Press. He took home first in the Sports Feature Photography for "Boxing ring" and won third place in Sports Action Photography for "Shirt grab." | |

Bryan Chu placed first in the Sports Story category for his work for "Counted Out: Asian Americans Remain Rare in Men's College Basketball," and "Meet Hell's Trainer," both were published in the San Francisco Chronicle. Bryan Chu has been a member of AAJA since 2005. He was awarded the AAJA/SJI position for the Class of 2005 and spent his SJI internship at the Denver Post. The following year he was awarded the Associated College Press Pacemaker for four-year reporter of the year. | |
