Jennifer Abella Named Dayside Multiplatform Assistant Chief for The Washington Post
November 24, 2009
Jennifer Abella, features copy chief at The Washington Post, has been named dayside multiplatform assistant chief at the paper. As announced today:
Jen will help oversee daytime operations for web stories, print feature sections and daily stories that are filed early. She'll work with Multiplatform Editing Chief Anne Ferguson-Rohrer in making copy-editing assignments and with web producers on search engine optimization efforts. She'll keep in contact with Web, print and mobile folks to track the status of stories, blogs, galleries and graphics. She'll work with Anne to make sure our content goes up on the site as quickly and cleanly as possible throughout the crucial morning and early afternoon periods. She'll also be tasked with making sure early print sections -- mainly weekly features sections -- close on time. The role will evolve as Jen and Courtney work with Anne to reorganize the department into a true universal desk operating on all cylinders from morning till night. Jen was most recently the copy desk chief for features; before than, she was a copy editor for Weekend and the Metro Tab desk. Abella has spent the past year as community liaison for the AAJA DC chapter. She is graduate of the 2008 ELP Class in San Francisco and has worked on the Voices Student News Project.
