CUNY/AAJA Scholarship Winner

AAJA would like to congratulate Ms. H'Rina DeTroy for being selected for the first City University of New York/AAJA Scholarship.

DeTroy, a resident of Brooklyn, New York, has been selected to receive the inaugural CUNY Graduate School of Journalism/Asian American Journalists Association Scholarship for the 2008-2009 Academic Year. DeTroy, a Dean’s List student and Student Recognition Award winner, graduated from the New School University in 2006, with a major in Creative Writing.

In addition to her full time position as Evening Coordinator for the Academic Skills Tutoring Center at the Fashion Institute of Technology, DeTroy is an active freelance writer for a wide range of publications including Flavorpill.com, Urban City Magazine, Cultural Survival Quarterly, Eurocheap.com, and Glimpse.org.

DeTroy expects to concentrate on Arts/Culture Reporting at CUNY Graduate School of Journalism, focusing on the print media track.
