The Introductory Session of the Executive Leadership Program (ELP) is held once annually to assist participants with developing a keen understanding of the corporate environment as it applies to the newsroom. ELP helps participants gain valuable skills in identifying newsroom dynamics and boosting leadership skills and performance.

Participants in this intensive, five-day program will gain an increased understanding of the corporate environment and a broadened perspective of the role of leadership in the newsroom. Most importantly, participants will learn how Asian American and Pacific Islander values can be assets to excellence, as well as liabilities, for effect executive performance.

Program topics include:

  • Career choices and goal setting
  • Understanding cultural values
  • Newsroom leadership styles
  • Dealing with backlash
  • Socialization and self-marketing
  • Effective workplace communication
  • Leadership strategies

Applicants must have at least five years of professional experiences as print or broadcast journalists. Participants are required to have company support and show potential leadership skills.
