Professional Opportunities at AAJA Convention
WORKSHOPS
Covering the latest issues affecting Asian American and Pacific Islander journalists, more than 40 workshops will be available to convention participants. Just prior to the opening of convention, free workshops presented by media organizations are offered to convention registrants who can arrive early and wish to dedicate a little more time to their professional development.
Previous workshops included: That Killer Live Shot, Art of the Radio Interview, Advanced Feature Writing and Beyond Blogs, Podcasting, Wikis and RSS.

CAREER FAIR
The AAJA National Convention features a Career Fair for media professionals and journalism students to interview with recruiters from the news industry. Interviews are "walk-in" and are on a first-come, first-serve basis. Job seekers should prepare accordingly and bring enough resumes and work samples to meet with recruiters.
Sample of previous companies: CBS News, CNN, ESPN, Gannett, Hearst Newspapers, National Public Radio, The New York Times, Newsweek,The Seattle Times, Tribune Company and The Wall Street Journal.

CRITIQUES
Professional journalists and recruiters will conduct One-on-One Critique sessions for newspaper, magazine, televisio and radio as well as for students during the Career Fair. There are a limited number of appointments, scheduled on a first-come, first-serve basis.

AWARDS
Every year at our national convention, AAJA gives out AAJA Awards in the following categories: National Journalism Awards, Special Recognition Award, Lifetime Achievement Award, Leadership in Diversity and the Dr. Suzanne Ahn Award for Civil Rights and Social Justice for Asian Americans. You can nominate yourself or your colleagues.
