Project Producer

Primary Purpose

The Sr Producer, Podcast is responsible for leading development and production of new show concepts for podcast networks. This role will report to the Executive Producer and shepherd ideas from concept to launch, while also weighing in on podcast distribution opportunities (marketing, audience development, etc.)


Key Activities

* Generate original creative ideas, across many different genres, that target broad new audiences

* Lead major talent outreach and new host discovery and management

* Create organizational workflow, and collaborate with new hosts and the larger content team in the development and show the evolution

* Manage the creative process to anticipate problems before they occur, and lead hosts to do their best work using smart, targeted editorial feedback and a skilled, creative ear

* Handle multiple projects at once, meeting all deadlines and managing fast turnaround projects

* Book recording sessions, directing hosts in a studio and editing raw interview tape

* Work collaboratively in a team environment to create a supportive and efficient production process

* Assist at any point in the content chain in order to support talent and staff when needed


Education & Experience/Certifications

* Bachelor’s degree in related discipline or equivalent work experience

* 5+ years’ experience in content development and/or production preferred for podcast, terrestrial or satellite radio, or similar audio medium

* Experience with television, web video or related medium a plus

* Experience working across a variety of genres and styles: comedy, in-depth interview, news, documentary, etc.

* Experience working collaboratively with creative and editorial talent

Skills & Abilities

* Must possess a curiosity and passion for podcasts and ideas for ways to move the medium forward as well as grow the audience.

* Exceptional project management and organizational skills

* A great ear for what makes for an engaging, smart, and entertaining conversation.

* A passion for determining what podcast audiences want to hear that doesn’t yet exist.

* Pro Tools expertise required.

* Strong interpersonal, written and verbal communication skills

* Ability to multi-task

* Critical thinking

* Ability to meet all deadlines with minimal supervision

* Strong attention to detail

* Understanding of emerging, digital-first media models

* Experience working collaboratively with creative and editorial talent

* A network of contacts within the entertainment and journalism worlds

* Sophisticated talent management abilities
