About San Diego
AAJA San Diego celebrated its 30th Anniversary last year. The chapter has grown to a dedicated Board of Directors of 11 talented and dedicated journalists. AAJASD recently revamped its official website and social media accounts. It raised enough funds to help a San Diego high school student attend JCamp and enough funds to help a board member attend a photographer development program. The chapter received a proclamation from the City of San Diego declaring September 24, 2016 as “Asian American Journalists Association 30th Anniversary Day”. AAJA-SD was also awarded the 2017 Historical Heritage Excellence award by the San Diego Filipino American Humanitarian Foundation. The chapter is currently working with the City of San Diego to celebrate Asian Pacific Heritage Month.
