Announcing the Merging of Yung AAJA and Student Broadcast Journalists Affinity Groups

AAJA has announced that the yung AAJA and the AAJA Student Broadcast Journalists affinity groups will be merging and consolidating membership under the yung AAJA banner. yung AAJA's director Benjamin Pu hopes that this will help yung AAJA become a larger and more energized affinity group, and will help amplify members' voices to the governing board and national organization. Special thanks to Michelle Baik, Nicole Tam, and Angeline Bernabe for all their hard work running SBJ, and for working with Benjmain to make sure young AAJA members have their needs met!

With increased membership, yung AAJA will have increased responsibilities. Yung AAJA will now double its minimum requirements as an affinity group. That will mean twice as many events, twice as many live-streams, and twice the effort to program great events at National.

To help with that effort, yung AAJA will be holding elections for committee leadership.
The group is looking for three committee heads for the three following tracks:
- Print, focusing primarily on writing, copy editing, print reporting skills
- Digital, focusing on social media, digital video, audience engagement, non-linear audio editing, photography
- Broadcast, focusing on live production, on-air reporting, MMJing, video/audio reporting, hosting/anchoring
These three committee heads will help make yung AAJA an even stronger presence in AAJA.
