Dr. Suzanne Ahn Award for Civil Rights & Social Justice for Asian Americans
The award was established by the Asian American Journalists Association to recognize excellence in coverage of civil rights of Asian Americans and/or issues of social justice for Asian Americans. Suzanne Ahn, M.D., was a Korean American who was raised in Arkansas and Texas. Dr. Ahn rose to become a successful physician, neurologist and inventor. Although she achieved a position of wealth and privilege, Dr. Ahn devoted her life to promoting civil rights and social justice for all Americans, especially women and Asian Americans. Last year, David Chen and Rinku Sen were the recipients of the 2004 Dr. Ahn Award.
