The Asian American Journalists Association (AAJA) will host an Inaugural Student Leadership Development Series powered by NBCU Academy. AAJA aims to support students in Fortifying Identity, Community Building, and Professional Preparedness. Happening during Winter 2023 through Summer 2024, AAJA student members can earn a NBCU Academy sponsored registration to #AAJA24, AAJA’s annual convention, as well as a Certificate of Completion, upon completing the series. Serving all AAJA student members nationally, sessions will be hosted on the digital platform Zoom.

Our goals are threefold:

    • Fortifying Identity: We want to educate student members on methods of how to explore their identity with the goal of activating their practice of self expression.
    • Community Building: We want to create a safe space for our student members to network and collaborate with the goal of advocating for themselves and allies at their academic institutions and student organizations.
    • Professional Preparedness: We want to provide student members with resources and techniques to develop their professionalism with the goal of bringing clarity and hopefulness to the transition from student to the workforce.

WHAT’S IN IT FOR ME?

Our Series will be a place to meet and create connections with other AAJA student members across the country, build relationships with leaders in the industry, and develop professional tools to take back with you into your next school semester or the workforce. Upon completion of the Series, students will receive:

      • Complimentary convention registration for #AAJA24 in Austin, Texas
      • A Certificate of Completion from NBCU Academy (for your resume and Linkedin!)
      • A mini AAJA swag bag
Students must attend all sessions to be considered for completion of the Series.
