17th Annual National Convention:
Convergence of Culture in the Heartland of
America
August 17-20, 2005
Twin Cities, Minnesota (St. Paul, Minneapolis)
Hyatt Regency Minneapolis
From the Convention Chair
Minnesota: Land of Prince, Prairie Home Companion, The Jolly Green Giant, The Mississippi River, Mall of America, Kevin Garnett, "The Mary Tyler Moore Show," The Guthrie Theatre, Spam, Target, Josh Hartnett, about a gazillion lakes and, yes, the 17th Annual National Convention of the Asian American Journalists Association!
The AAJA Minnesota chapter is proud to invite you to one of the nation's most underrated gems, where summer is a non-stop party. In that spirit, we've got a jampacked program in the works, starting with an opener 57 stories above sparkling downtown Minneapolis, and concluding with an underground gangster-style bash in the historic St. Paul caves.
In between, we're planning lots of activities for families around the Uptown lakes and at the Mall of America. Grownups will love the hundreds of bars, clubs and restaurants within walking distance of our host hotel, the Hyatt Regency.
But more importantly, we're gearing up for the kind of top-rate programs that AAJA conventions are known for: high-profile speakers, skills-building sessions, workshops, networking and career opportunities for professionals and hands-on training for students. These and more await the over 1,000 expected attendees and guests.
And those who are watching their wallets: We're looking out for you as well. Rooms are going for only $119 and we're working on loads of discounts in the neighborhood.
This will be one of the most exciting events in our organization's history - and we can't wait to prove it to you.
See you in the Twin Cities. It's hotter than you think.
