AAJA/Getty Images Inclusion Scholarship returns for second year

AAJA and Getty Images are pleased to announce the return of the AAJA/Getty Images Inclusion Scholarship to award a $10,000 scholarship to a student focused on photojournalism.

Launched in 2020, the Getty Images Inclusion Scholarships are open to emerging photographers around the world with the aim of promoting greater diversity and inclusion within the photographic and media industries.

The scholarship recipient will also receive a one-year student membership to AAJA and registration in this year’s convention. The scholarship funds can be used for tuition, camera equipment or other education costs during the 2021-2022 school year.

Eligibility: This Getty Images Inclusion Scholarship is open to undergraduate and graduate students attending or accepted by accredited colleges and universities in the U.S. with at least one year of school remaining, beginning in the fall of 2021.

From last year’s recipient, Haiyun Jiang, Ohio University

In July 2020, I was honored and thrilled to be the inaugural AAJA/Getty Inclusion Scholarship grantee as a photojournalism student at Ohio University. The scholarship in the past year has helped cover partial fees for my graduate school, housing, and health insurance and enabled me to better focus on my research, study, and honing my storytelling skills. In addition to it, the scholarship will also help support the completion of my thesis project as it requires travel and lodging.

I am beyond grateful to AAJA and Getty Images for their generous support, especially as we go through a global pandemic. I am glad the scholarship will come back this year and support another dedicated photojournalism student as they learn, grow, and contribute to our industry.

Applications are due May 20, 2021. Please visit this page for details on eligibility and how to apply.
