2024 AAJA Convention to be held Aug. 7-11, 2024 at the Hilton Austin

We’re heading to Austin, Texas for #AAJA24!

Mark your calendars: The Asian American Journalists Association’s 2024 annual convention, AAJA24, will be held Aug. 7-11 in Austin, Texas.

Next year’s convention will be an opportunity to engage with the hot-button issues shaping Texas and its diverse population, including a rapidly growing Asian American and Pacific Islander contingent. With record numbers of newsrooms engaging in training, networking, and recruitment, we are excited to reunite in Austin, the state capital, and home to The Texas Tribune, The 19th and many other news organizations. During this important election year, AAJA will offer learning and training experiences at the intersections of journalism, public policy, and community empowerment– and of course, karaoke.

Join us in Austin, where we will…

    • Hear from journalists covering the 2024 election cycle from every angle, and from local to presidential — following candidates on the campaign trail, tracking disinformation on social media and tackling stories on voter rights and access to the polls.
    • Engage on the political issues dominating the news cycle in Texas and nationwide, including immigration, LGBTQIA+ rights and abortion.
    • Support local journalists in Texas and beyond, highlighting the importance of press freedom and the necessity of telling the stories of diverse communities.
    • Connect with the AAPI journalists and community in Texas, the state that trails only California and New York in its population of AAPI residents. Meet AAPI leaders and community groups working for equity, building on the event AAJA hosted during SXSW in 2023.

In this election year, AAPI voices need to be heard more than ever. #AAJA24 will be a space to continue building our collective power, uplifting our narratives, and question and challenge how AAPIs are represented in the media.

Please watch for convention registration and hotel information.

#AAJAFamily, we look forward to welcoming you to Austin!
