The Asian American Journalists Association condemns President Donald Trump’s decision to deny journalists from CNN, MS Now and Politico access to the White House, and urges the administration to reverse course.
Journalists have the right to question government officials without fear of retaliation or having access revoked based on their reporting. AAJA stands with our colleagues in the Washington press corps who are being banned or targeted for simply doing their jobs.
The decision comes after other startling moves from this administration that threaten a free press, such as arresting journalists, searching their homes and issuing subpoenas to them.
A free press is a cornerstone of our democracy, and the public depends on independent reporting to hold those in power accountable. AAJA urges the government to respect the First Amendment and restore full, equal access to the journalists.
