 (AAJA-San Francisco Bay Area) and his AJ+ field documentary team, “Direct From with Dena Takruri,” have recently won an Edward R. Murrow award for Excellence in Social Media for their four-part “War in the Koreas” series. The series, which has also won Telly and Clarion awards, explores American militarism and occupation in the Korean peninsula. Most recently, he’s collaborated in producing “Direct From’s” latest work, which looks into indigenous communities in Palestine and Canada resisting oil pipelines, occupation of their land and gender-based violence. In her new role, she covers major breaking news and offers insight and analysis on various topics. Previously, Kellie was an entertainment reporter for The Arizona Republic in Phoenix. She spent more than a decade covering dining news and trends, cocktails and beer, events, visual arts, nightlife and music for azcentral.com. During her time in Phoenix, she was the lead features reporter for major events including the Super Bowl, Country Thunder and the College Football Playoff National Championship. Joy Lim Nakrin (AAJA-New England) is an Emmy-nominated anchor/reporter for NBC Boston and NECN. She was recently named one of Boston’s 25 Most Influential Millennials of Color by Get Konnected, a bi-monthly networking event that brings together diverse professionals in the Boston area. Joy was nominated based on her work helping low-income Asian immigrants with the Boston Chinatown Neighborhood Center and Cambodian Mutual Assistance Association, as well as her involvement with AAJA-New England. Joy came to NECN and NBC Boston from FOX25 in Boston where she spent two years as an anchor/reporter. She holds a Juris Doctorate from the Duke University School of Law, briefly worked at law firms in both the U.S. and Japan and is also a licensed attorney with memberships in both the Massachusetts Bar and American Bar Association. Prior to coming home to serve as a journalist in Boston, Joy spent three years as an anchor/reporter in Minneapolis at ABC affiliate KSTP-TV and two years as an anchor, reporter and producer at WTIC-TV in Hartford, Connecticut.
